The aim of this assessment piece was to transform Aesop’s fable, the Tortoise and the Hare, into a comic format with a reinvigorated meaning. The resulting illustration set suggests that the hare loses the race to the tortoise after finding a lost baby mouse beside the track. Although he attempts to catch up after waiting with the baby mouse for its mother, upon seeing the tortoise’s excitement after winning the hare tells all the woodland creatures that he had fallen asleep. This was intended to express to children the importance of humility and kindness, themes more common in everyday life compared to the original understanding of the story.
